MSFE shoud filter by from instead of only envelope-from

Post by Rik »

Hi all,

I was invited to write here my problem... that is actually not only my problem as I can see from past threads complaining the same problem....
https://mail.forum.configserver.com/sea ... %5B0%5D=23

PROBLEM: MSFE only allow to block by envelope-from not "from".

SCENARIO
I happens that trying to blacklist spammers, very often the envelope-from is the address of mailchimp servers and not of the real email account.
Let's take this real example
A spam email has the envelope-from = bounce-mc.us4_17487503.13368421-6b497f89ab@mail12.us4.mcsv.net
from = noreply@iamaspammer.com

1) banning "from-envelope"
bounce-mc.us4_17487503.13368421-6b497f89ab@mail12.us4.mcsv.net
would be completely useless because the next identical email, from the same noreply@iamaspammer.com would not have such address.

2) banning "from-evenlope" with wildcard
*@mail12.us4.mcsv.net
means to bans half a universe including potentially good mailling list that the user wants to receive

3) banning "from"
noreply@iamaspammer.com
it's the ONLY way to go! And instead it's the only thing MSFE is not able to do.

Wouldn't be nice to add such a feature? I think it's a key feature for a BL. Without that it's like a car with 2 tyres instead of 4.

I second this, it would be an amazing improvement to the product.
